    102. Petronas CNY Campaign

    Chinese New Year is just a few days away & Petronas is known for their heart-touching television commercial (TVC) for big festivals like CNY, Hari Raya, etc etc. The virtues that bind all of us together.


    The latest Petronas Chinese New Year commercial, titled “Coming Home”. This video was shot in 6 different countries which is Malaysia, England, China, India and Belgium.


    In today's generation, in today's modern society, family members may be spread out throughout the world in search for income and food for a stable future for their family and younger generations. They strive the best they can to get the most they can regardless to their standard of living and the grounds they come from. Their life stories may be different, but when it's all said and done, we still stay true and honor our traditions, passed down from generations to generation. And that is to simply be "home" with their family and loved ones. The video "coming home" shows families of different standards of living, from different walks of life, all struggling to do what they can with what they have. In this video, there is a dentist making a living at a rural part of India, attempting his best to celebrate the New Year with his family in his home country via Skype, a little boy in China having a simple dinner with his family, and a young girl in London working separate jobs to earn a living and yet still able to “celebrate” Chinese New Year with er extended family ie. her customers. These people has shown that by hope or by crook, Chinese New Year has to be spent with the ones that matters most, be it with family or with loved ones, be it in person or via technology. These are traits passed down by our ancestors and should not be forgotten simply due to the evolution of society and busyness of an individual. :')




    Last Tuesday, 17th of January, Petronas held a special preview for the CNY campaign at Galeri Petronas.

    After the speech and prosperity toss, the media was then led down to the ground floor for a superb lion dance performance.

    PETRONAS is also organising a photography contest themed Reimagining Energy™, in collaboration with Leica Camera AG.


    To participate, all you have to do is to capture your Chinese New Year moments that best depict the spirit of Reimagining Energy™, submit your photos via PETRONAS’ Facebook page and stand a chance to win awesome prizes.

    Prizes will be awarded to the individuals of the winning photos. These photos will also be displayed and exhibited at Galeri PETRONAS.


    The “Coming Home” TVC will air from 17th January until 6th February 2012.
